Homemade Baby Formula Recipe

I am lucky enough to be able to breastfeed this precious little gal, but if I wasn’t, I would make my own formula before ever feeding her conventional formula!

Most formula is junk anyway, so many people might actually see an improvement in their babe’s health when getting them off and switching to homemade. They’re usually full of soy, corn syrup, polyunsaturated fats, and fake/synthetic vitamins!

Here’s a great homemade recipe in the middle of the formula shortage.

Start with either :

4 cups distilled/spring water (no fluoride!)

and

4 heaping TBS of Mt. Capra organic whole fat goats milk powder ( this brand doesn’t have folic acid!)

OR

4 cups of whole fat raw milk, from Pasture-fed cows or goats (goat is the closest to human breast milk- find this locally at Real Milk

Then add :

1/4 tsp Bifidobacterium infantis (Klaire Labs is a great brand)

4 TBS raw organic turbindo sugar/ coconut sugar/Mt. Capra Lactose/real Maple syrup ( or mixture of these)

1/2 tsp organic unsulphered blackstrap molasses (more if babe has constipation issues)

2 tsp organic olive oil

2 tsp organic coconut oil

1/2 serving of tocotrienols (I use Tranont brand and health ranger store has a good one as well)

1/4 tsp whole food vitamin C (I use Tranont brand, Micro Ingredients brand has a great powder)

2 tsp organic nutritional yeast flakes (LOOV is a great brand- again, make sure no folic acid added! Must be FOLATE)

2 tsp organic and grass fed gelatin/collagen (Great Lakes, Aspen Naturals are both good brands)

Next…

Mix in blender with 2 cups hot water, slowly add 2 cups room temperature water. Can be strained through a cheesecloth or strainer if needed.

Pour directly into glass bottles and store in fridge.

Keeps for 3-5 days in the fridge or you can freeze.

Weston Price Recipe Inspiration

This is based on Weston Price recipe, and I’ve seen it work for many people throughout the years. Probably better than formula in many ways!

If there is any upset tummy, remove the nutritional yeast and try again.

The great thing about homemade is that you can adjust it to meet your needs!

He also recommends when babe is 4 months old you can offer a soft boiled/cooked egg yolk per day.
